Henry Funk Obituary

It is with a sad heart that Reynoldien & family would like to announce the passing of her husband Henry Funk, on January 15, 2020, at The Meadows in Swift Current, SK.  There will be a Celebration of Life on March 14, 2020, at Walker Place from 1:00 – 5:00 p.m.  Henry is survived by his loving wife, Reynoldien (nee Gray) Funk; loving children:  Dorie (Kevin) Luepke, Corrie Funk, Justin (Tammy) Funk:  7 loving granddaughters;  siblings, Frank (Norma) Funk, Anne McDowell, Martha (George) Janzen, Katherine (Glenn) Mores, Helen (Terrance) Funk, Ruth Burnes, Jake (Angelique) Funk, Nettie (Miles) Funk and Cornie (Lynette) Funk: and by many nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his parents, John and Anna Funk, 2 brothers Abe and Ben, and 1 brother-in-law.  Henry was born on July 10, 1953 in Herbert, SK and attended school at Main Center.  Henry married Reynoldien Gray on June 21, 1974.  Henry and Reynoldien lived a short time in Swift Current until they acquired some land north of Swift Current.  Henry built his own house and resided there until passing.  Henry was employed by the CPR (rail road), Swift Current Building Supplies, McWilliam Construction, Kamal Contracting and Jamal Contracting.  Henry loved building, he had a creative mind; envisioning a project and then building it.  There wasn't much he couldn't do with carpentry' both inside and outside a building.
Henry worked on his own numerous times over the years and did many jobs for friends and family.  In his younger days Henry played fast ball, broom ball and hockey.  Henry also enjoyed golfing, fishing and playing pool.  Henry was a tender, loving and caring person.  He was a quiet man but, when he did speak his words spoke volumes.  Henry was a great provider, wonderful father and a hard worker.  He didn't always show it but, he "always had a plan."  Dad always had a special smile, a caring heart and a warm embrace for us.  He was always there through good times and bad, by our side to help and support us.  Dad was there to celebrate our successes, help us understand our problems and accept our defeats.  Dad always taught by example.  He showed us the value of hard work, good judgement, courage and integrity.  "If you're going to do something, do it right the first time or don't do it at all." Donations in Henry's memory may be made to the Cancer Foundation of Saskatchewan. Warren's Funeral Home were entrusted with the arrangements.
