Gerald Woychuk Obituary

Gerald Michael Woychuk
July 8, 1946 - December 4, 2018
On December 4, 2018, Gerry passed away peacefully at the Swift Current Hospital, at the age of 72 years. He was predeceased by his parents, Michael (1990) and Tina (1997), and his grandmother,
Sophia (1967). Gerry is survived by his sister Pat (Martinson), brother James (Jim), daughter Danette, son James, and the mother of his children Patricia Woychuk (nee Hauk). Gerry will also be sadly missed by his nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and cousins. Gerry graduated from W.A. Beatty in Swift Current, Sask., in 1964. After post-secondary education, Gerry pursued a career in engineering at Torchinsky Consulting Engineers in Calgary, AB, in 1970. He later transitioned to other consulting opportunities (self-employed) in Alberta and Saskatchewan until his retirement in Saskatoon. Great memories of Gerry abound, including "the great water fight" on a scorching Saskatchewan summer day, many outdoor pursuits (fishing, hunting camping), cards and games and certainly his over-all fun-loving demeanour and generosity. Growing up in Swift Current, there were many youthful excursions along the creek, frigid hockey games at the local outdoor rinks, and the especially memorable shenanigans that he was known for. His many weekend excursions with his kids in the Calgary area included the Badlands, Bragg Creek, Fish Creek Park and the like. Visits back "home" to Swift Current invariably included crayfish hunting down at the creek, and or a cooling dip.   He could run like a jackrabbit, so a challenge on the tennis court was always welcome. A life-long Saskatchewan Riders fan, he also enjoyed a playful game of football, firing us bullet passes. Gerry was very inquisitive, and craved information. His home was not without a stock of Omni magazines, delving into scientific wonderment, his intelligence able to discern the physics of
Stephen Hawking. A game of chess with him was challenging at best.

In lieu of a funeral service, the family will gather for an internment and celebration of life at a later date. Warren's Funeral Home was entrusted with the arrangements.  For further information, call 306-773-8831 or visit our website at www.warrensfuneralhome.com and express your sympathy to family members in our book of condolences.
