Elizabeth "Marjorie: Michel Obituary

Marjorie Michel (nee Crawford) passed away on September 20, 2019 at the age of 95, with her family by her side at the Clover House in Swift Current. She was born in Eastend, on April 2, 1924 to Sara and Jim Crawford. She had no brothers or sisters, but had a special pony called, Daisy, who was loved and cared for like one of the family. She lived most of her life on the Michel farm and ranch, near Claydon. In 1980 they built a new home in Eastend where she resided until 2009 when se moved to Riverview Estates in Swift Current. In the fall of 1943, right out of high school she took a short course at teachers college in Moose Jaw. On July 31st, 1944 she married John Michel. She stayed busy on the farm looking after her two girls, doing some teaching when they needed someone to fill in, and lots of cooking for the hired hands and her family. She always enjoyed caring for her family, close friends and neighbors. Even at Riverview she took on the role of helping those who needed an hand or just someone to visit with. Once she moved to Eastend she became very busy belonging to clubs, Clay Centre Handy Craft, Rebekahs to name a few. She enjoyed trying new recipes, dancing, playing bridge, crafts of all kinds and in her later years while at Riverview she took a keen interest in writing stories of her life and became very prolific at it. She always said she was Jack of all trades. She had a great love for her family and enjoyed every spare moment she could spend with them. She often said how blessed she was. She is lovingly remembered by her daughters, Sharon (Bob) of Swift Current, Paulette (Ken) of Elbow; grandchildren Michel (Kobus) of Medicine Hat, Terryl (Mark) of Saskatoon, and Shane (Lisa) of Weyburn; and great grandchildren, Meagan, Kayla, Jenay and Sophie. She was predeceased by her husband John in 2007. A memorial service was held in Riverview Estates on Friday, September 28th. Donations may be made to Stars Ambulance.
