PETKAU: Cecil Clifford passed away peacefully at the Cypress Regional Hospital in Swift Current, SK on August 4, 2019 at the age of 89 years, surrounded by his family. Cecil will be missed by his son Jerry (Corinne); his daughter Cheryl (Greg), grandson Christopher, granddaughter Kayla and fiance Jason; daughter Gayle (Wayne), granddaughters Amanda (Michael), Stephanie (Jeremy), Kimberley (Jeremy), and great grandson Gunner. Cecil will also be missed by his sister Pearl; brothers Wilf and Bob; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Cecil was born in Westerham, SK to Jacob and Marie Petkau and later moved to Rush Lake. His mother passed when he was a young child and his father remarried Anna Klassen and she lovingly stepped into the role of Mother. Cecil married (divorced) Viola Peterson and they had three children and stepson Jimmy. He spent his career as a "travelling salesman" and food broker based out of Calgary and later Regina where he eventually retired. In his younger years he loved to referee hockey games and wrestling with Stampede Wrestling and the Hart family. Cecil enjoyed his job and the travelling and made many friends in his long career. He also loved to golf until his leg amputation at the age of 80 and he had to give up the sport but it didn't stop him from taking walks and driving. As his health declined in the past years he still stayed independent and lived alone with the help of some great friends, Bernie, Peter and Lloyd. Cecil was predeceased by his parents, Jacob and Marie Petkau; infant sister Leona; his step-parents Anna and Irwin Klassen; brother Mervin and sister-in-law Elma, brother Jerry and sister-in-law Shirley, brother-in-law Art Munro, and sister-in-law Elaine Petkau. The memorial service will be held on August 16, 2019 at 2:00 pm from Herbert Living Faith Fellowship Church with Pastor Lincoln Vallacott officiating.
