George Driscoll

George passed away on Monday, March 11, 2024 after a short battle with cancer.  Born to George and Edith (nee Miller) Driscoll, in Regina February 10, 1952.  The family took up full time residency in Swift Current in 1958 where George spent the rest of his life.  George was predeceased by his father George in 1962 and his mother Edith in 1986, numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.  George is survived by his wife Joan, children Courtney Huber (Jacob), grandchildren Everett and Lillian, son Mackenzie Driscoll and his partner Jonathan Koch, sisters, Lillian Belkin, Winnifred Carnrike (George), niece Wendie Larocque (Jason) and their children, and nephew Michael Carnrike (Denielle) and their children.  George was educated in Swift Current.  He worked many various jobs throughout his teens.  In 1968 he landed a job with Swift Litho-Printing (now the Booster) cleaning presses.  By the end of grade twelve he took on a full time position there as a graphic designer.  He remained at the Booster as production / art manager until the year 2010.  After leaving the Booster he took on a position at Monticello Graphics as graphic designer for 13 years, finally retiring in December 2023.  In February 1974 he met Joan and in November of that year they were married.  Together they had two wonderful children, Courtney and Mackenzie.  George took great pride in his children and their accomplishments, fully supporting them in their endeavors and life choices as best he could.  He also enjoyed playing pool.  Playing at Dooly’s and going to nationals in 2008 and starting and running the fun league at Lucky Charlies for 4 plus years.  He was often called upon to run tournaments and referee the Cash League finals.  He was also one of the early member of “The Room” where he enjoyed playing snooker.  He loved baking, cooking and barbecuing.  George was very proud of his yard and flower beds, and fence building was a passion.  He enjoyed quality time with his wife Joan including movie nights, date nights, and a nightly battle of Wordle and Crosswords.  George enjoyed people, and his many friends.
