Vadna "Dolly" Howlett

HOWLETT:  Vadna (Dolly) Howlett (nee Gunderson) passed away on May 11, 2012 at the age of 96 with her grandchildren by her side. Dolly was born on March 27, 1916 to Anna and Ole Gunderson of Kyle, SK. Dolly spent a wonderful childhood with five brothers and 1 sister. Dolly attended Teachers College in Moose Jaw and upon completion she taught for two years. Dolly married Albert Howlett in 1938 and they farmed in the Wyatt area raising their two children Virginia and John. Throughout her life Dolly's greatest love was her family. Many summers were spent visiting with her grandchildren. She loved to sew, knit and crochet. Dolly spent many hours volunteering for the
Red Cross as well writing letters for patients at the Palliser Hospital. Dolly loved to travel and wherever she went, she came home with many stories of her travels. Dolly was an avid gardener, and always had the most beautiful flowers in her garden especially her favorite flower, lilies. Dolly is survived by her daughter Virginia Wall, daughter-in-Iaw Roberta Howlett; grandchildren Mike (Barb) Lucas, Holly Lucas, Kevin (Darlana) Lucas, Jefferie (Deborah) Howlett, Jennifer (Floyd) Cleaveley, James (Kristen) Howlett; great-grandchildren: Chelsey, Victoria, Kaylee, Jordan, Jessica, Cheyenne, Natasha, Madison, Britney, Kyle, Dana, Gabriella and Ainslee;
sister-in-Iaw Margaret Gunderson. Dolly was predeceased by her husband Albert (2002), son John (2011) and grand-daughter Melodie (2011) as well as her 5 brothers and 1 sister. Many thanks to the Staff at The Prairie Pioneers Lodge Swift Current SK. Internment service took place on May 24, 2012 at Memory Gardens Cemetery, Swift Current SK.  Donations may be made to the Prairie Pioneer Lodge Auxiliary C/0 498 Steel CR. Swift Current, SK. S9H 4R2.
